“The nursing care my Dad received in Braefield was second to none. The Home is spotless and Dad was always clean and well looked after. We were always kept informed of changes in Dad’s health and any concerns.

We visited the Home on a daily basis, and saw first hand that residents are treated like members of the family This gave us great comfort.

The dignity and compassion shown towards dad and the family in his latter days was comforting, and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. I would highly recommend Braefield they are a fantastic team.”

“I visited Longfield Nursing Home a few weeks ago and was reassured by the warm and caring environment I saw for the patients. The lady who showed us around was enthusiastic and interested in the welfare of the patients and wanted the environment to be pleasant and inviting. She had bought new Christmas decorations and was impatient to get them put up to see the reaction of the patients.

She talked about how we could personalise my aunts room to make her feel at home. The focus was on the welfare of the patients. We saw several patients as they appeared content and happy in the home. I would feel content if my aunt had a place in this home. The visit allayed many of my fears about nursing homes.”

“This is the second time I have placed my husband into respite in Rosemary Lodge Care Home and both times I have felt content in the knowledge that he would be well looked after. I hope that when I next require respite care they will be available and if he ever requires permanent care they would be my number one choice.”

“My mother passed away peacefully in Braefield Nursing Home last week. She had been a resident there for approximately 18 months. On admission to Braefield my mother was in a poor nutritional state following a prolonged admission to hospital, the staff nursed her back to good nutritional health with care and dedication within a few months.Throughout her stay in Braefield my mother was visited almost daily by family, what we witnessed was outstanding care, patience and devotion to all the residents.

I was particularly impressed with the professional attitude of all the staff and the time they took to speak with relatives, communication was excellent. In a very short time we were able to relax knowing that she was in a safe environment, a home from home. The cleanliness of the home was very good, the attention to detail in the care of my mother's clothes and the efforts to provide food that my mother would eat- all little details which contributed to the fantastic care. We will be forever indebted to the all the staff in Braefield for the exceptional care given to our mother throughout the last years of her life, and the support and kindness shown to the family during the lasts days of her life. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home.”

“My sister and I went to view Bradley Manor yesterday with no appointment and we were welcomed in like old friends. We are looking for somewhere for an elderly lady who has early dementia. As my sister owns a care home in England, she knew what to look out for and what questions to ask. The Team Leader Kate had no hesitation in showing us all around. She was very down to earth and answered all our questions.

She also asked about our elderly friend and was very interested in her needs. I have to give Bradley Manor a 5 star rating. It is spotless with a lovely fresh smell all round. The rooms are very spacious which would be ideal for my friend who likes her own personal things around her. The ensuite is an extra bonus which we think is essential for privacy. I would just like to thank Kate Hamilton for showing us around even though she was in the middle of her lunch when we arrived. I hope there is a chance that we can get our friend settled there.”

“Slemish Nursing home has a wonderfully dedicated team of workers who really care for the residents and go the extra mile. My aunt is 103 and has been in the home for the last 5 years. I am totally confident in the staff’s excellent pastoral and medical care and having recently experienced a very different home where my mother was placed for rehabilitation it made me so grateful that my aunt has been so wonderfully cared for and that I have always been kept informed of her welfare.

The heart of any care home is its staff and short cuts like short staffing particularly at night alongside a bland ’hotel-like’ look seem to be the order of the day. Giving the elderly the care they deserve should be paramount and fortunately Slemish nursing home staff have this ideal at the core of their team.

They should be used as a model for others!!!!!”

“This is a wonderful, caring and well run nursing home with staff second to none. My aunt spent her last 5 years there and was a lively character up to a week before she passed away at 105!!! Couldn’t speak highly of the home, it’s management and staff. This review is long overdue but I hope the staff take heart from it under the current climate of the pandemic.”
