Celebrating Nursing Support Workers’ Day: Stories from Our Dedicated Team

Nursing Support Workers play an invaluable role in care homes, offering compassion, expertise, and unwavering support to residents and their families. This Nursing Support Workers’ Day, we are proud to share the stories of some of our incredible team members, whose dedication and passion embody the heart of healthcare.

1. Lynda, Bradley Manor Care Assistant

"My name is Lynda, and I’ve been working as a Care Assistant in various care settings for eight years. For the last two years, I’ve had the privilege of working at Bradley Manor Caring comes naturally to me, both in my professional and personal life, so providing care and support to our residents feels like second nature.

One of the most rewarding parts of my role is getting to know our residents and their families. Helping residents settle into their new environment is fulfilling, but it’s equally important to provide support to their loved ones. Being able to care for residents during their most vulnerable moments is an honour, and seeing their smiles as they enjoy life in the care home makes all the hard work worthwhile."

2. Rachael, Castle Lodge Care Home Senior Care Assistant

"I began my journey at Castle Lodge as a Care Assistant in 2022. Last year, with the support and encouragement of my Home Manager, Una, and my wonderful colleagues, I was thrilled to be promoted to Senior Care Assistant. This promotion is a source of pride for me, and I’m committed to excelling in my role while continuing to learn and grow each day.

What makes Castle Lodge special is the teamwork among staff. Together, we ensure our residents feel happy and content in their home. It’s a joy to work in such a friendly and homely atmosphere, where I’m trusted to provide the best care for our residents."

3. Alison, Pond Park Care Home Senior Care Assistant

"I’ve been part of the Pond Park Care Home family for 19 years, a journey that began after I cared for my mother at home. My passion for care stems from the sense of achievement I feel knowing that residents can rely on and trust me.

Making a difference in their lives, no matter how small, is incredibly rewarding. It’s the little things—the moments of connection and the comfort we provide—that truly make this work so meaningful."

4. Christina, Braefield Court Positive Behaviour Care Assistant

"I am grateful for the opportunity HCI has provided me through my role as a Positive Behaviour Care Assistant/Support Worker at Braefield Court. Over the years, this role has expanded my knowledge and skills, allowing me to offer maximum support to residents in an environment that promotes growth for both staff and residents.

This supportive environment has not only helped residents settle into life at Braefield Court but has also made a significant impact on their journey toward independence. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness the positive changes in their lives and know I’ve played a part in their progress."

On this special day, we celebrate the compassion, dedication, and professionalism of our Nursing Support Workers. Their stories remind us of the vital role they play in creating a safe, caring, and supportive environment for residents and their families. Thank you for all that you do!
